Locks of Love
I chopped about 14 inches off my hair on Thursday. I was inspired by my 7-year-old neice's decision to donate her hair to Locks of Love, and decided to join her.
My neck is cold, but I feel about 200 pounds lighter. :-)

Carpooling
Wow how time flies when you're having - er - fun.
So my younger sister moved in to my house just before Christmas, and before she started work on Jan 2, she had herself in a carpool. Loves it. Most convenient. (It's via the Jack Bell Foundation at ride-share.com, you should check it out if you need a carpool in the Lower Mainland area.)
I, on the other hand, am not in a carpool yet. Partly it's cuz I don't work downtown and I don't work in the office 5 days/week. So it's not such a no-brainer for me. But also, I need to run around and get things when I'm in the city. Selection of the home decorating/hardware type is not as great outside the big boxes* and wouldn't you know it, I have a number of things to do in that area these days. Long story short, I've registered at ride-share.com for a casual carpool, to see if a more flexible, less frequent kind of carpooling can work out. We'll see.
*Even in the big boxes it's questionable. Every ceiling fan/light that was near passable at home depot was out of stock. *sigh* Oh, and the faucets! Who knew there were so many butt-ugly faucets in the world! I may have to become a true internet shopper.

Recent weeks in a nutshell
Drive
Work

You get the picture? OK, there I go starting with the downside (I seem to do this a lot lately, have I always? Don't answer that...)
The good stuff:
- Waves crashing on the beach. Lovely sun and wind. Share it all with my sweetheart.
- My niece is so excited that I'm going to cut my hair with her. She decided to grow it out for Locks for Love and I thought it would be great to join her.
- My nephew Jeremy showed me line rider. So much addictive fun!
- Shiny new laptop

Moving is exhausting (still)
We got *almost* the whole kit'n'caboodle moved. We underestimated how much there was left for the final load, so we had to leave some things stashed behind at our neighbour's place. The day stretched into a day and a half, we were barely out by the deadline, and my fingertips burned for 2 days, from all the packing tape. I don't think I've ever been so physically and mentally exhausted at the same time.
Lesson learned: even though I swear I'm never moving again, well, if I do, we're a) purging a lot more stuff, and b) getting big beefy movers with a big-ass truck. This do-it-yourself moving stuff is for college kids on a budget ;-)
But at least, we didn't move all the way across the country like Bill, so the last minute panic was easily resolved.
Anyhoo, the high speed isn't set up at home yet, so if you send us e-mail we may be delayed responding.
Anyone have experience with aclimatizing cats to a new home? We've had them locked in the house since Saturday, and aren't too sure when to let them explore outside. They seem fine but they sure want to go out!
