Watched Code 46 recently. (Would you believe my week was such a blur that I don't recall which night...) I really enjoyed it. The dialogue was mostly English but the characters often used spanish and other languages sprinkled through it. Had a global village effect.
Anyway it was one of those sci-fi movies that gets you thinking 'how could humans think they know so much, be so brazen to do that with technology?'. Then you think about it and realize we already do something similar. Not a unique concept to be sure. But I liked the love story and the interesting locations in it too.
Found a new site today, a weblog with an environmental twist. Too bad I'm not looking for any gifts right now, they have a cool list of Gifts under $50. Which kind of dollar I'm not too sure...
Beer Cap Belt
Pretty Bowls
Organic Plush Toys
Oh, and look, a zodzilla bib. How cute. (OK that was from SproutHome but one thing leads to another...)
Via NewsTarget.com I found another interesting topic: an unauthorized biography of Coca-Cola. The author points out a page on Coke's site that claims caffeine is not addictive.
Say what?!
It goes on to say "It is true that some symptoms of withdrawal can be experienced by some people if caffeine consumption is stopped abruptly.". Withdrawal is what happens when you stop taking an addictive substance. A google search for the definition of withdrawal agrees... I think those Coke marketers are chewing on too many Coca leaves, myself. Should be plenty around the office, since they import eight tons of coca leaf from South America each year...
On the skytrain this evening I was overhearing a couple of young women talking. One of them said 'Neither of us knows how to send an email'.
Neither of us knows how to send an email?!
I run in such insulated circles. I *so* need to remember that when I am designing something a newbie might use.
I read once that when designing you have to think about the user's
Context
Knowlege
Intentions
Experience
Or something like that. Maybe I forgot one. This user's context is 'bedtime'. I am tired...
The more I read newstarget.com, the fewer things I want to eat. A recent article about Kraft guacamole is enough to make you wanna hurl.
Sadly, reading this site hasn't curbed my chocolate cravings just yet...
